Medicaid introduced CDPAP to give you the power to choose a family member, lifelong friend, or trusted neighbor to be your paid home health aide. They don’t need to be certified or have any formal experience, because you hire them, train them, direct them, and even dismiss them, if necessary. You’re in charge of the schedule, and you decide what tasks you want them to perform.
It’s easy to qualify
To participate in the CDPAP program, you must be eligible for Medicaid, be enrolled in a Managed Long Term Care plan, need help with daily living, and be able to supervise your caregiver (or have a representative who can do so on your behalf).
